    Our client, one of the most widely recognised global oil and gas companies, are looking to recruit a Design Drafter to join their team.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing preliminary sketches and diagrams, analysing costs, inventory and purchasing information in the relation the designs, checking drawings and layouts. They will also be responsible for product development as defined by Supervisor, correctly checking the Bill of Materials and making use of the V.A concepts to reduce product cost without sacrificing technical integrity.
    The successful candidate will be expected to develop final designs, perform moderate to complex designs, co-ordinate prototype lab tests, write test requests and reports, create and update technical units, draft design layouts, assembly drawings and 3D drawings. They should also contribute in project teams, work to procedures in P. Eng Specifications Manual associated with drawing control, adhere to health and safety rules and regulations and should be willing to carry out general ad-hoc duties and participate in special projects when required.

The successful candidate should be skilled in the use of CAD, Microsoft Office, Report writing, technical writing and must have the ability to apply mathematical calculations to support tasks. The ideal candidate will possess and will be able to demonstrate high-quality communication skills and must be able to work in a team and use own initiative when required.

    It is essential that the successful candidate must have a HNC or equivalent, knowledge of drafting techniques, intellectual property requirements, cost, inventory and purchasing information. The candidate must be aware of the health and safety requirements and must be knowledgeable of working with the use of CAD and must be experienced in working to deal lines. Practical drafting experience is necessary, preferably in the drafting of tools used in the offshore industry.

    The ideal candidate will be expected to complete Product Line Training, IT Systems Training, HSE and HR Training modules and any other mandatory company training.
