Role - Financial Controller

Location - Aberdeen

Source's client, an international service company and seeking a commercially astute Financial Controller for one of their business lines.

This role will report directly to the Managing Director with a functional reporting line to the Divisional CFO. As a key member of the management team the position is expected to actively contribute to the profitable running of the business providing proactive support and guidance to all areas of the Company as well as the Division. The Financial Controller will be responsible for providing timely & accurate financial information to the management team, and meeting all financial reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

Management of Finance and Administration functions
Assisting in the preparation of all financial plans, budgets & forecasts for the business.
Preparation of monthly management accounts as allocated, along with their submission to management team and Group within specified timetables and in accordance with accounting policies.
Management of statutory accounting and tax reporting processes
Preparation of consolidated monthly reports for the businesses in accordance with Divisional timetables.
Maintaining and assisting in developing the reporting systems of the businesses to provide all relevant financial & operating information for management in an accurate & timely manner.
Assisting in the development of staff within the finance and administration functions to leverage individual and organisational contribution.
Proactive management of working capital, highlighting variances to planned levels & addressing same.
Ensuring that appropriate provisions are made for warranty costs, bad debts, inventory and WIP, and any other judgemental areas.
Management of CAPEX plans and existing fixed assets.
Supervision of credit control activities including collections, and review and approval of terms for new and existing customers.
Supervision of cash management and cash flow forecasting.
Submission of Group insurance submissions and credit insurance returns - management of local insurance requirements.
Working with the P+L stream owners to assist them in running their business streams including the provision of timely data and trending.
Support of the general management of the businesses by appropriate interaction and support with other members of the management team.
Dealing with internal and external auditors.
Proactive contribution to financial and other performance improvement initiatives.
Responsibility for liaison with other Companies and administration of intra-Group contracts.
Any other tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Qualified Accountant (CA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with relevant post qualifying experience
Oil & Gas experience preferred, but not essential
Proficient user of financial systems
Good organisational and analytical skills
Demonstrated skills in change management
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines
Good communication skills along with the ability to present information in a simple manner
Advanced Excel skills
