Full Description:
Are you self motivated and customer focused? Our client First ScotRail is one of the largest rail franchises in the UK, operating 341 stations and running 2,000 train services across Scotland every day.

If you join them as a member of their station staff you will be the face of First ScotRail at our of our stations, ensuring a warm greeting and supplying a higher than expected level of information. Working closely with their customers you will provide the very best in customer service and you will provide a feeling of safety, security and well-being.

You will provide relief for stations within the area. To provide a reliable and courteous service to our customers are various stations - this involves sale of tickets and other rail service products, providing customers with information and assistance and cleaning duties. Ensuring that stations comply with the SQUIRE regime and that First ScotRail Safety and Standards are met. Train dispatch duties, ensuring that trains leave the station safely and punctually and that customers are kept informed.

You will have the responsilbility for keeping the station environment clean, tidy and hazard free by carrying out security, health and safety and environmental checks within toilets, platforms and waiting areas. You may also be responsible for ice and snow clearing from platforms and footbridges in the winter months.
Area Relief means that you will have a base station but you will also be required to travel to and work at other stations in the area providing coverage for staff who are on leave, sick or at short notice.

Skills and Requirements
A highly motivated and flexible individual with excellent communication skills. Customer friendly focused. An effective team player who can demonstrate individual initiative. Should be able to work under pressure whilst remaining calm. Must have basic numeracy skills.
You must be able to demonstrate your health and safety at work experience and your ability to manage unexpected situations constructively.

Medical Fitness
Due to the nature of this post and rail industry requirements there are certain medical and fitness standards that you would require to meet.

Hours of Work
Flexibility is essential in order to meet shift requirements which may include early starts, late finishes and weekend working. Average of 35 hours per week.
Earliest start would be 5.30am and latest finish at 1.45am. Due to the nature of this job and shift working involved, you must be able to drive and possess your own transport, the salary for the relief post is higher to compensate for this purpose.

Reference Salary and Benefits
On completion of training the salary will be £20,752 per annum.
During the first several weeks of training the salary is £12,560 per annum.
Benefits include travel concessions for leisure use on all First Group services and free travel on First ScotRail services. Final Contributory pension scheme, full uniform, a commitment to full comprehensive training and development and generous holiday entitlement. Salary is by four weekly credit transfer.
