Our client, a medium sized practice firm in Aberdeen, is looking to appoint a Tax Manager to join a long established team of professionals.
Duties and responsibilities:
Preparing and reviewing CT computations, including provisions for accounts and deferred tax calculations.
Tax planning for companies and their shareholders/directors.
Attending meetings with directors pre year end to discuss possible tax planning opportunities based on management accounts.
Minimising CT payable by groups of companies by way of group relief, management fees, interest charges, re-charging expenses, etc.
Dealing with HMRC enquiries and investigations, including meetings with clients and HMRC.
Negotiating tax settlements with HMRC.
Advising on VAT and SDLT implications.
Advising on the CGT implications of actual and proposed transactions.
Advising on proposed reconstructions such as group reorganisations, mergers, demergers, etc.
Assessing the tax implications of trading overseas and the type of structure required for overseas operations, including liaising with associated firms in other countries.
Undertaking tax due diligence for proposed company acquisitions.
Considering the most tax efficient exit strategy for both companies and individuals.
Close liaison with Corporate Finance regarding acquisitions and sales of companies including tax minimisation opportunities.
Reporting to the senior manager and/or tax partner on all tax issues and opportunities.
Marketing firms taxation services and capabilities to clients and potential clients.
Liaise with Insolvency Department regarding MVLs and planning for them.
Maintain up to date tax knowledge through reading, attending tax courses and giving presentations on tax topics, both internally and externally.
